All About Thrope Therapy
Thrope Therapy was founded by Lily Thrope, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker in New York City. Lily earned her Master’s in Social Work from New York University and began her career at the Women’s Prison Association in their East Village family shelter.
It was there that Lily developed her deep commitment to supporting people during life’s most challenging moments. Today, she brings that same compassion, skill, and authenticity to her private practice, creating a space where clients feel truly seen and heard.

Anxiety, stress, and burnout
Big life changes, like graduation, career shifts, or moving to a new city
Relationship challenges and communication struggles
Questions about identity, purpose, or belonging
Grief, loss, and other emotionally complex experiences
Whether you’re in the middle of a major transition or just feeling stuck, therapy offers a space to explore, process, and move forward.

What Makes Us Different
At Thrope Therapy, we offer more than just a space to talk—we offer a space to feel seen. Our approach is radically different from many traditional therapy settings because we honor the full complexity of your lived experience, without judgment or stigma. We practice through an anti-diet and weight-inclusive, lens. That means we don’t pathologize your body, your eating, or your coping strategies we get curious about them with you.
We believe that health isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s personal, evolving, and defined by you. At Thrope Therapy, we help you reconnect with your own version of health, one that’s rooted in self-trust, not external expectations. Whether that means finding peace with food, healing your relationship with your body, or building emotional resilience, we’re here to support what health genuinely looks and feels like for you.
We know that healing doesn’t come from shame or pressure to change. It comes from safety, trust, and connection. That’s why our therapy is relational, person-centered, and strengths-based you are the expert on your life, and we’re here to support your goals, not impose ours.
In session, expect warmth, honesty, and deep respect. Whether we’re exploring your relationship with food, navigating trauma, managing anxiety or depression, or working through identity and self-worth, we focus on building a strong, authentic connection. Many of our clients share that therapy with us feels different more affirming, more collaborative, and more real.
Outside of sessions, we offer text coaching to support you in your day-to-day life. We understand that emotional distress doesn’t wait for your weekly appointment, and we’re here to support you throughout the week too. The work we do in session will translate to skills you can practice during the week to feel better.
You don’t have to pretend everything is fine. You don’t have to shrink yourself physically or emotionally to be worthy of care. We’re here to help you feel more like you.
At Thrope Therapy We Can Help You…
-
Quiet the constant mental chatter about calories, weight, and rules. Learn to trust your body’s cues instead of fighting them. Learn to practice mindfulness to increase awareness.
-
Dismantle the critical inner voice that says you’re not doing “recovery right” and start believing in your ability to heal. Develop a strong inner voice that cheers you on.
-
Whether it’s bingeing, restricting, purging, or obsessive food rituals, we’ll identify the patterns and help you step out of them with curiosity and care.
-
You don’t have to get it “perfect” to recover. We’ll work on progress over perfection and embracing flexibility with food. Using the intuitive eating framework we can reset your relationship to food and find more flexibility and comfort.
-
Recovery creates room, for rest, joy, relationships, and purpose. We’ll help you set boundaries and make choices that support your full self.

Another essential aspect of therapy is unpacking the beliefs and expectations people have developed and identifying whether to own those beliefs and expectations or let them go. It is possible to let go of the “shoulds” in your life, thereby liberating yourself from emotional baggage. This process of evaluating beliefs is rewarding and healing.
When you are ready to break away from old patterns and develop new ones founded on confidence and personal integrity, Thrope Therapy LCSW is here to help!
